Privacy Policy
Effective 22 September 2026
Romo ("Romo", "we", "us") is an app made by VisionLab Studio, based in Türkiye. This policy explains what Romo collects, why, who processes it for us, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, write to us at [email protected].
The short version
- Romo builds your training plan from the answers you give it, and backs up your plan, workouts and food log to your Romo account.
- Apple Health data stays on your iPhone. Romo reads it to show your steps, sleep, weight and workouts, and only sends a short summary of it when you ask Romo, the AI coach, a question.
- A photo leaves your iPhone only when you choose to send it: a meal to scan, a posture check, a photo for the coach, or your profile photo.
- We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from Settings at any time.
What we collect
Account
When you sign in with Apple we receive a user identifier from Apple, and — if you choose to share them — your name and email address. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only see a relay address. Your account is managed with Google Firebase Authentication.
Your profile and plan
The answers you give when you set up Romo: your first name, age, sex, height and weight, goals, reasons for training, experience, training days and session length, where you train, the equipment you have, injuries to work around and the coach tone you prefer. Romo uses them to build your plan and daily targets. They are stored in your account.
Training and daily logs
The workouts you finish, with their moves, sets, reps and weights; your training day picks; and the small daily logs you keep in Romo — water, steps you enter yourself, rest-day check-ins and your food totals. These are stored in your account.
Weight readings and sleep you enter yourself are kept on your iPhone. Your current weight is also part of your profile.
Meals and meal photos
The meals you log: their names, times, calories and macros. When you scan a meal, the photo is sent to Google's Gemini models (see "Romo, the AI coach" below) to estimate what is on the plate. The photo of a logged meal is kept on your iPhone and in your account, so it stays with the meal on a new phone.
Posture checks
When you run a posture check, the two photos you take or pick are sent to Gemini to read your posture. The photos are not stored, on your iPhone or in your account. The result — a score, the areas to work on and the fix plan — is kept on your iPhone.
Apple Health
With your permission, Romo reads steps, walking and running distance, workouts recorded by your iPhone or Apple Watch, active energy, body weight, height and sleep from Apple Health, and saves the workouts you finish and the meals you log (calories and macros) to Apple Health. You choose exactly what Romo may read and write in the Health app.
Health data stays on your iPhone. It is not stored in your account, with two exceptions: when the newest weight from Health becomes your profile weight, and when you ask Romo a question (see below). Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never used to build profiles about you for anyone else.
Romo, the AI coach
When you ask Romo something, Romo sends your message, any photo you attach, and the context needed to answer — your plan and today's session, and a summary of your recent meals, steps, water, sleep, weight and workouts — to Google's Gemini models through Firebase AI Logic. The same service writes the short motivational line on Today. Your conversations with Romo are kept on your iPhone, not in your account. Do not send Romo information you would not want processed this way.
If you speak to Romo instead of typing, Romo uses Apple's speech recognition to turn your voice into text, with your permission for the microphone and speech recognition. Apple processes the audio — on your iPhone where supported — under its own privacy policy. Romo does not keep the recording; only the resulting text is sent as your message.
Friends
If you use friends, you choose a username. Your username, first name and optional profile photo can be seen by other signed-in Romo users who search for you or scan your code, and by your friends. Friend requests and friendships are stored so both sides can see them. Your profile photo is stored in your account.
App Check
Firebase App Check confirms that requests come from a genuine copy of Romo, to protect our servers from abuse. It relies on Apple's App Attest and does not identify you.
Notifications
Reminders (for example a workout day, water or meals) are scheduled on your iPhone. We do not collect a push token.
What we do not collect
Romo has no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking. We do not collect your location, your contacts or your photo library — Romo only receives a photo when you pick or take one.
How we use your data
- To provide Romo: build and adjust your plan, run your workouts, count your meals and targets, read your posture, answer your questions, show your steps, sleep, water and weight, connect you with friends, and back up your data.
- To keep Romo working and secure: prevent abuse and fix problems you report.
- To reply when you contact us.
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (providing the app and your account); your explicit consent for health data and for camera, microphone, speech recognition, Apple Health and notifications, which you grant and withdraw in iOS Settings and the Health app; and our legitimate interests (security), which you can object to by contacting us.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf and only to provide their service:
- Google (Firebase) — authentication, cloud database and file storage (located in the European Union), App Check, and Firebase AI Logic with Gemini models.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, Apple Health, App Attest and speech recognition.
These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Your profile, plan, workouts, logs, meals and their photos, username and friends stay in your account until you delete them or delete your account. Data kept only on your iPhone — such as your Romo conversations, posture results, sleep and weight entries — is removed when you delete the app or sign out. When you delete your account in Settings, your account data and photos are erased from our systems, apart from anything we must keep by law.
Your rights and choices
- Permissions — Apple Health, camera, microphone, speech recognition and notifications can be changed at any time in iOS Settings and the Health app.
- Delete — delete your account and its data in Romo: Settings › Account › Delete Account.
- Access, correction, portability, restriction and objection — email [email protected] and we will respond within the time the law requires (normally one month).
- Complaints — if you are in the EU, UK, Türkiye or another region with a data protection authority, you can complain to it.
- California residents — you have the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA/CPRA.
Children
Romo is not directed at children under 13, and in the EU and UK under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and stored with Google Firebase, which encrypts data at rest. Access to your account data is limited to your signed-in account. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
